A Burbank man in his 70s sustained a minor head injury Thursday during a home garage fire that was extinguished shortly after being reported, officials said.

Burbank Fire responded to the garage fire at about 3:45 p.m. in the 3300 block of Verdugo Avenue, officials said.

The homeowner, a man in his 70s, was in the garage when the fire started and suffered a minor injury when he fell back and bumped his head, Capt. Peter Hendrickson said.

“The fire did not extend beyond the garage,” Hendrickson said, adding that the blaze was knocked down in about 15 minutes.

Minor damage was reported to a small trailer that was in the driveway, but the garage was a total loss, Hendrickson said.

The garage is valued at about $30,000 and the contents, including a 1940s coupe, are valued at about $60,000, he added.

The cause of the blaze remained under investigation.
