The three right lanes of the westbound Ventura (134) Freeway remain closed near Buena Vista Street in Burbank as authorities investigate a fatal accident in which a pedestrian was reportedly struck and killed.

California Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos told the Los Angeles Times that the accident was reported shortly before 5 a.m. The pedestrian, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Sigalert remains in effect for the stretch of freeway, with traffic confined to the carpool lanes only as Los Angeles County coroner’s officials investigate the scene.

Villalobos told The Times that it was not immediately clear when the man was doing on the freeway.

Patchy, sometimes dense, fog was prevalent throughout the Los Angeles area this morning.

It was unknown how long the lane closures would last.
