Car carries man on hood after crash

A man was struck by a car and carried about 20 yards on its hood Saturday as he tried to retrieve strewn papers in the street, police said.

The man, whom police did not identify, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash at about 4:40 p.m. at Colorado Street and San Fernando Road, Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

Another motorist pulled over to help after the vehicle that hit the man stopped, but he didn’t immediately walk into the roadway because he told police it looked dangerous.
