Hookah ignites palm fronds; teens detained

Four Glendale teens were briefly detained Friday evening after a hookah they were smoking ignited several palm fronds at Brand Park, officials said.

Firefighters managed to limit the small blaze to the plant life, which occurred about 7 p.m.

The teens, who were between the ages of 15 and 16, were cited on suspicion of being minors in possession of tobacco, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

No property damage was reported.
