Burbank offers free sandbags to residents, businesses

Share

With a cold winter storm bearing down on the region, Burbank officials today said they will provide free sandbangs to residents and business owners.

The sandbags will be available from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. this week at the Public Works Field Services Yard, 124 S. Lake St. Crews will require proof of city residence, such as a utility bill or driver’s license, before directing visitors to the back of the site, where workers will help load the sandbags into the vehicle, according to a city announcement.

Hours may be extended if emergency situations arise, according to the city.

The cold weather storm is expected to bring rain to the valleys and snow to higher elevations, prompting Los Angeles County officials to close several main roads in the Angeles National Forest today.

Sunny skies are expected to return on Wednesday, but another rain storm could move in on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
