A parolee is expected to appear in a Los Angeles County Superior courtroom next week on burglary charges after a homeowner allegedly caught him sneaking around his home while wearing latex gloves, police said.
Aram Hamardzumyan, 22, who is being held without bail, has been charged with one felony count of burglary, according to a Los Angeles Superior Court criminal complaint.
Hamardzumyan, who was convicted for assault with a deadly weapon and evading a police officer in 2010, was arrested Dec. 13 after allegedly breaking into the home.
The homeowner was reading a newspaper in his bedroom when he heard footsteps and saw Hamardzumyan, who was wearing latex gloves, in his room, according to police reports.
Hamardzumyan allegedly told the homeowner someone called him to do some work at the home. When the homeowner refuted that, Hamardzumyan reportedly left.
But by that time, police were already waiting outside because a neighbor notified them when she reported seeing Hamardzumyan enter through the home’s window.
After he was arrested, police found the gloves, a screwdriver, dental pick and a Glen Capri Motel key card in his pants pocket.
Officers searched the motel room and found two bags containing jewelry, according to police reports.
Detectives are still trying to find the owners of the jewelry, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.
