Autopsy results for 11-month-old could take weeks

Los Angeles County coroner’s officials today said it could be weeks before they get results from additional autopsy tests for an 11-month-old baby who died last week after experiencing breathing problems at a Burbank day care center.

While the cause of death and other details were unknown pending the autopsy report, police last week said they did not suspect foul play.

At about 3:15 p.m. Feb. 1, police and paramedics responded to a call about a baby not breathing at a licensed day care facility in the 200 block of West Santa Anita Avenue.

Paramedics transported the infant to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center while performing life-saving techniques, but were unsuccessful.
The baby was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A woman who answered the phone at the day care facility said she was heartbroken and that everyone was shaken up. She declined to be identified or comment further.
