Happy with city’s police chief

As long-time residents of Glendale, we are extremely pleased with the city’s new police chief.

Chief Ron De Pompa has had some trying times recently, but his professionalism is obvious and greatly valued.

We know it is always a very tough decision to discipline members of your staff (“Two officers released from police department,” Aug. 18). Yet, De Pompa has done what he thought was best for Glendale and the other members of his department.

It was not an easy decision, we are sure, but one that needed to be done for the vast majority of his staff that take seriously their pledge to “protect and serve.”
