Glendale Community College President/Supt. Dawn Lindsay is a finalist for the president’s job at a community college in Maryland, she confirmed Thursday.

Lindsay is at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Md. this week as part of the vetting process in what is now a three-way race.

Glendale Community College trustees are aware she is up for the job, Lindsay said. Board of trustees President Anita Gabrielian did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The other finalists are Andreea Serban, interim vice chancellor of education services at Coast Community College District in Costa Mesa, Calif., and Peter Katopes, vice president for academic affairs at LaGuardia Community College in New York, according to a posting on the Maryland school’s website. The story was first reported by The Capital, an Annapolis, Md.-based newspaper.

Lindsay was named interim president at Glendale Community College in May 2009 following the resignation of then-President Audre Levy. One year later, the college hired Lindsay with a permanent, three-year contract through June 2013.

In November, Glendale Community College trustees voted to extend Lindsay’s contract through June 2015.

“It is kind of an affirmation that the person is doing a good job, that the board is happy,” Donna Voogt, administrative dean of human resources, said at the time.

Lindsay earned $195,43, plus a doctoral stipend, during the 2010-11 school year, according to Voogt.

However, the president, along with other members of the management staff, did accept a pay cut for the current school year as the college worked to reduce expenses.
