Glendale police motorcycle officer collides with truck

A Glendale police officer was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning for minor injuries after his motorcycle crashed into a truck that was pulling into an angled parking spot on Brand Boulevard, officials said.

Officer Bill Frommling was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where he was treated for a sore jaw, knee and hip, Glendale Police Lt. Steve Robertson said.

Frommling was conducting speed enforcement on Brand Boulevard and was going after a violator at about 30 mph just before 8:30 a.m. when the Toyota truck traveling in Brand’s left lane just ahead of him made a sharp right turn across the right lane, which Frommling was in, to pull into a parking spot, Robertson said.

Frommling’s motorcycle struck the right side of the truck and the officer fell from the motorcycle. The truck driver immediately called police for help, Robertson said.

The driver of the truck was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol and was not cited at the scene, Robertson added.
