Lina Sisto, born September 1, 1910, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2012, at the age of 101. Lina was born in Barletta, Italy, and studied to become a concert pianist in Genoa, Italy. In 1930, she married Antonio (Tony) Sisto in Pompeii, Italy, and immigrated to the United States. They settled in Chicago where Lina worked side by side with her husband to make their small business a success. In 1952, Lina, Tony, and their two daughters moved to their new home in Burbank, California. There, Lina created a loving home, was active in the St. Robert Bellarmine Church community, and served as a school volunteer. Lina was quick-witted, friendly, and full of life. She lived a long, happy life and touched the hearts of everyone she met.
Predeceased by her husband, Tony, and her daughter, Stella. Survived by her loving family: daughter: Francesca Sisto; her grandchildren: David and Mike Schmittdiel, Elvira Rousset, Virgil Rochowansky; her four great-grandchildren; her sister, Teresa DeRobertis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Burbank on Saturday, August 25th at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Villa Scalabrini Retirement Center, 10631 Vinedale St., Sun Valley, CA, 91352.
