Scenes from the RNC: Hats and political statements

TAMPA, Fla. -- Hats turned from simple headgear, or a way of protecting oneself from the Florida sun, to political statements for many delegates at the Republican National Convention. Delegates from West Virginia, for instance, wore coal miner hats. Those from Texas, not surprisingly, chose cowboy hats.
