Man’s $50-claim against Glendale for shirt stained at library is rejected

Glendale has rejected a $50-claim filed by a man who says sticky, black gunk on a library table ruined his new shirt.

The man, Fred Sohrabian, claimed he was taking a real estate exam at a city library in July when he leaned against the table. When he stood up, he said he noticed stains across his white Calvin Klein shirt that he recently purchased from Macy’s.

“I’m unemployed. It would be good to have the shirt,” Sohrabian said, adding that he took the real estate exam so he could find a job as a Realtor. He hasn’t had any luck.

The city gets several claims every month, but wardrobe damages are rare. Most people complain about power outages, damaged cars or tripping on sidewalks.

Sohrabian says he tried to clean off the stains, but to no avail.

“The shirt will be out of order for a long time,” he said.
