Glendale Water & Power warns customers of impersonators

Share

Glendale Water & Power officials on Thursday warned of an employee impersonator who been calling customers in an attempt to coax them into releasing credit card information over the phone.

The man threatened customers that their power would be turned off if they didn’t provide credit card information to pay their utility bill over the phone, according to the utility.

Glendale Water & Power is working with police officials, while posting warnings messages on Facebook, Twitter and the utility’s website.

Utility representatives never ask for payments over the phone and will not visit a customer’s home to ask for a payment, officials said.

Any customers who receive a call from a Glendale Water & Power impersonator was asked to call the utility at (818) 548-3300.
