Glendale police lift lockdown of neighborhood, robbery suspect remains at large

Glendale police called off the search Wednesday for one of three men who fled from officers responding to an early morning call regarding an armed residential robbery.

Police were called to the 700 block of Patterson Avenue at about 5:15 a.m. Wednesday after two male residents reported being robbed at gunpoint. One of the residents suffered a laceration on his head after being beaten, police said.

As officers arrived, they saw three men leaving the area in a vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the men allegedly drove off instead.

The pursuit ended a short time later near the intersection of Concord Street and Wilson Avenue, where one of the men fled on foot. The other two – who were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries -- were arrested at the scene.

Police put the neighborhood under lockdown and called in a SWAT team and K-9 units to assist with the search, but by noon, the perimeter was disbanded when the man couldn’t be found.

The man was described by police as being black, 6 feet tall and wearing a white shirt with dark pants.

Glendale police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said it was unclear if the robbery was random or if the residents were targeted.
