Police arrested a 39-year-old man for allegedly assaulting a man near Glendale Presbyterian Church downtown, officials said.

City officials had obtained a restraining order this month against the man, Lance White, who must stay 100 yards away from the building in the 300 block of East Harvard Street, according to Glendale police.

Police reportedly spotted White push and kick another man three times outside the Glendale Central Library, which is adjacent to the church.

The man told officers the attack was unprovoked, according to police. White claimed that he was supervising his group and attacked the man when he got out of line, police said.

White was arrested on suspicion of battery and violating a restraining order, police said.

In White’s group, officers arrested another 38-year-old man, Andrey Kruchenko, on suspicion of possessing painkillers that were prescribed to someone else.
