Man arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure near high school

A 44-year-old man was arrested Monday after police reportedly saw him pressing his face against an opening in a gate near Glendale High School and masturbating as he watched a group of students, officials said.

Adin Michael Henderson was taken into custody on suspicion of indecent exposure outside the high school in the 1400 block of East Broadway, according to Glendale police.

An officer were patrolling about 5:15 p.m. near Broadway and Verdugo Road when he noticed Henderson pushing his face against an opening in a large metal gate which separates Verdugo from the high school’s parking lot, according to Glendale police.

Henderson’s hands were reportedly moving quickly inside the front of his pants and underwear as he looked toward a group of teen boys and girls a few hundred feet away, according to police. The girls were reportedly wearing form-fitting athletic shorts.

The officer observed Henderson for two minutes before he approached him and asked what he was doing.

Henderson quickly responded that he never talked to one particular girl and that she spoke to him, police said. He denied masturbating while he watched the students leave the school.

When asked about why he was pressing his face against the gate and touching himself, he reportedly told police he was studying for a test at Glendale Community College and didn’t want the officer to bother him, police said.

Henderson gave different stories to different police officers about what he was doing, claiming he was fixing his belt, then adjusting his boxers and then changing his pants while he stood at a bus stop. But the officer said Henderson’s pants were unzipped and his underwear was exposed.

Henderson reportedly had a paper napkin in his left hand and a bottle of lotion could be seen sticking out of his jacket pocket, according to police.

Soon after, Henderson was arrested and placed in the back of a patrol car, where he began urinating on the back seat, according to police.

He reportedly also removed his pants and underwear inside his jail holding cell, which was visible to other prisoners and police staff, according to police.
