Jobless rates drop slightly across tri-city region

Share

Unemployment rates declined across the tri-city area in March, fueled by continued strengthening in the motion picture industry and sound recording industries.

Job gains were also recorded in financial services, information technology and leisure/hospitality.

Glendale’s jobless rate dropped by 0.4% to 8.6%, according to data released Friday by the California Employment Development Department. In Burbank, the unemployment rate declined 0.3% to end at 8%.

The unemployment rate in Pasadena was 7.6%, a 0.2% dip.

Statewide, the jobless rate was 9.4%, down from 9.6% in February. That’s a significant improvement from 10.7% jobless rate for the same period last year.

The unemployment rates in La Cañada Flintridge and South Pasadena each edged down by 0.2% to 3.8%, and 4.9%, respectively.

Meanwhile, La Crescenta-Montrose and San Marino each reported just a 0.1% downtick to 4.9% and 4.5%, respectively.
