Share

Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire inside a tar kettle pot on the site of an apartment development under construction Monday morning, but it still prompted the evacuation of workers, officials said.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, which started about 8:20 a.m. inside a tar pot used at the Lex on Orange apartment complex, being built in the 300 block of North Orange Street, said Brandy Villanueva, Glendale Fire Department spokeswoman.

The fire, which was contained to the tar pot, was extinguished 16 minutes later.

Firefighters ordered the evacuation while they investigated the blaze, she said.
