Glendale firefighter tests are set to begin

Share

Applicants hoping to fill one of 15 new firefighter positions with the Glendale Fire Department will begin testing Sept. 9 at the Glendale Civic Auditorium.

The city received more than 3,200 online submissions but only those candidates who applied during the open recruitment period and met minimum qualifications were given a testing date for the four-day written exam process, said Aymee Martin, human resources administrator.

Candidates who pass the written tests will qualify to take part in an oral exam process tentatively scheduled for Oct. 7.

Once the exams are completed, 15 recruits will be selected to participate in a 14-week fire academy.

After graduating from the academy, the new Glendale firefighters will be on probation for a year and can start earning an annual salary of about $68,700.
