CV incumbents keep their seats

Three incumbents on the Crescenta Valley Town Council, representing the unincorporated areas of La Crescenta and Montrose, each secured another term following Saturday’s election in which 431 residents cast votes.

Of the nine residents who tossed their hats into the election, incumbents Harry Leon, Cheryl Davis and Young Suh earned the most votes, earning them each a three-year term.

Leon, a plumbing contractor who supports banning oversized trucks from parking in the area, received 194 votes.

Davis, a law-firm office administrator who wants more youth-centered activities and outlets in the community, won 170 votes.

Anesthesiologist and elder at the L.A. Korean Presbyterian Church, Suh garnered 147 votes, and looks to improve his role as a liaison for the Korean-American community.

Facilities manager Kyle Studebaker, who seeks to jump-start community involvement among residents, received 99 votes, placing her in the first alternate seat on the council.

The alternates will serve a one-year term as they stand in for missing council members during meetings.

Current alternate Leslie Dickson, who strives to establish more open space in the community, got 70 votes, making her the second alternate.

Sixty-six residents voted for Krista Smiley, a former council member who favors slow growth in the community as she works as a watchdog for unwanted development, landed the third alternate seat.

Of the 431 residents who cast votes, 130 submitted absentee ballots.
