818 Round-up: High-speed chase, La Cañada Flintridge real estate record, Gatto Wiki Bill
Good morning, 818 readers. Today is Thursday, Dec. 26. National Weather Service forecasters predict the high will be 78 and the low will be 46 in the Glendale-area. If you missed the latest headlines on your day off, catch up here:
- After an early morning high-speed chase, two burglars wound up in the hospital after allegedly breaking into a car in Burbank and initiating a high-speed chase that ended with the stolen vehicle crashing on a freeway off-ramp.
- A La Cañada Flintridge couple has put their 12,000-square-foot home on the market for $13.3 million, setting a local record price.
- If you’ve ever wanted to propose legislation, you might be able to if Assemblyman Mike Gatto’s idea goes through. The democratic legislator, whose 43rd Assembly District in part blankets Burbank, Glendale, La Cañada Flintridge and Montrose, recently proposed an online “wiki”system like Wikipedia where people can propose, draft, and edit a bill which Gatto will then introduce in the state Legislature.
- Glendale Community College wrapped up its first semester with a smoking ban in place. Since the beginning of the fall semester, campus police issued 15 citations. Violators are subject to a fine of up to $100.
