Several motorists arrested during holiday DUI crackdown

Share

Police have arrested at least 20 motorists during a holiday crackdown focusing on impaired drivers.

Four motorists were taken into custody this week on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to Glendale Police Department reports.

Another 16 motorists were arrested for alleged drunk and drugged driving during a high-visibility patrol operation and sobriety checkpoint conducted last weekend.

The increased enforcement was part of a countywide DUI crackdown, which began Dec. 13 and ended on New Year’s Day.

Law enforcement agencies arrested at least 2,268 motorists for DUI, which is up by 100 from last year’s effort.

Police plan to conduct similar DUI operations during the Super Bowl on Feb. 2 and St. Patrick’s Day on March 17.
