Furniture fires, seven minutes apart, set on two Glendale streets

A couch and mattress on sidewalks on two different streets in Glendale were set on fire seven minutes apart early Saturday, according to the Glendale Police Department.

A mattress was set on fire at the 200 block of West Lomita Avenue at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, and about seven minutes later, a couch was set on fire on the 200 block of East Chestnut Street.

“Both were very close to each other, so it was probably the same person walking from one to another, but nobody saw that,” said Glendale Police Sgt. Miguel Porras.

The Glendale Fire Department responded to both fires.

The incidents are under investigation. There are no suspects yet, Porras said.

One car at each location was damaged minimally due to the heat, he said.
