Suspect faces stalking charges
Prosecutors charged a Sunland man on Thursday with reportedly stalking and threatening a married woman who hired him to perform construction work at her Glendale home, officials said.
Jeorge Mehrabian, 48, was arrested Tuesday after he violated a restraining order by sending the 37-year-old woman a letter, according to Glendale police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.
The Glendale woman first met Mehrabian last year when he was hired for construction work at her home on Louise Street.
But once the work was completed, Mehrabian reportedly stuck around.
He began “showing unwanted affection and interest” in the woman, Lightfoot said.
Mehrabian started showing up at her home at random hours — sometimes loitering and sleeping in his truck parked outside her home, she said.
Mehrabian reportedly showered her with unwelcome gifts, including flowers.
At one point, he told the woman’s father that he wanted to marry her and asked for her hand in marriage, Lightfoot said.
After receiving numerous unwanted text messages, letters and visits, the woman decided to file a restraining order against him in January, according to Los Angeles County Superior Court records.
Detectives also began investigating the woman’s case and soon discovered Mehrabian allegedly violated the restraining order.
That’s when detectives contacted him and he agreed to meet with them Tuesday about his alleged harassment toward the woman.
Police detectives investigated a similar stalking case in Glendale last year.
The case led to the arrest and conviction of Gamlet Sarkisyan, who reportedly stalked a married Glendale woman and crashed his vehicle into her car to get her attention.
After Sarkisyan met the woman in an appraiser’s course, he began flooding her with unwanted gifts and followed her to work and around Glendale, police said.
During the course of his obsession, police said he entered her home through a window to profess his love, and even threatened to kill her if she refused to see him.
In January, Sarkisyan agreed to plead no contest to stalking the woman and was sentenced to two years in prison.
