Former Glendale councilman faces sentencing

Former Glendale Councilman John Drayman is scheduled to be sentenced Monday morning in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom.

Drayman pleaded guilty to three felonies last month, centered on the theft of proceeds from the Montrose Harvest Market, an organization he started prior to being elected to office in 2007 and one he helped run during his time on the dais. His bid for reelection in 2011 was not successful.

In addition to the embezzlement charge, Drayman admitted to a felony charge of filing false tax returns,. The third felony count involved a perjury charge.

Under a plea deal, Drayman agreed to a year in jail and five years probation in addition to paying restitution of $305,000 to the farmer’s market and $14,000 to the state.
