Power plant is a historical treasure

Share

A recent article on the front page of the L.A. Times about the B52 still in service and being upgraded was very interesting and a great accomplishment. Having managed the Grayson Power Plant I have always appreciated the age of the generators and the fact that they are still serving GWP customers today.

An example is the number one generator, which is 14 years older than the B52 and has more miles on it than all of the 700 B52s combined. It has never been modified and has run almost 24/7 since the beginning of WW II. The city and council has a historical commission and takes great pride in its historical districts and buildings. For anyone’s information there exists more history at our Grayson Power Plant than any other place in Glendale.
