First day of school experience was not representative

Share

We are writing in response to the Aug. 28 letter by Steve Vasquez about his son’s first day as a first-grader at Richardson D. White Elementary School. As parents, we can imagine how hard it was to have had such a difficult first-day experience. We can understand his frustration and concern.

That is why we want to reassure him, and all of our R. D. White families and community, that his experience is not representative of the quality educational experience that is characteristic of the school. Vasquez’s son will definitely benefit from exceptional teachers, a caring staff and a very engaged parent community at R. D. White. We know this from our years of experience as parents of students at the school, during which we have witnessed nothing but positive change and growth.

We invite Vasquez to get involved in the PTA, Foundation, Dads’ Club, or any of the other parent-volunteer opportunities at the school. Being involved will definitely enhance his son’s elementary school experience for both of them.
