Letter: Freeway meter is the cause of backups

Re: Patricia Moore’s letter “City needs to address traffic problems,” Mailbag, Jan 11. I believe the northbound traffic on Brand Boulevard near the freeway is made worse by the freeway entrance meter.

Quite often freeway traffic is going at least 50 mph when there is a line of cars affecting Brand Boulevard. Not only does this make no sense, it can cause a hazard as cars must enter the freeway from a dead stop, having to merge into fast oncoming traffic.
