GLENDALE — After beginning the postseason with a hard-fought overtime victory, the Flintridge Prep girls’ soccer team looked to write another script.

Flintridge Prep survived its first-round playoff test and sought to jump out to a quick lead when it met Quartz Hill in a second-round match Saturday.

Top-seeded Flintridge Prep received precisely what it needed, getting an early goal from Natalie Brown to register a 4-0 home win in a CIF Southern Section Division III contest at the Glendale Sports Complex.

Flintridge Prep (23-1-1) got two goals from Brown and one apiece from Mckenna Dominguez and Presley Nevadomsky to advance to a quarterfinal road match against South Torrance on Wednesday at a time to be determined.

Flintridge Prep, which won the Prep League title before earning a 3-2 overtime first-round home victory against Santa Barbara, got a goal from Brown in the second minute to take a 1-0 lead.

“We were able to get the early lead and that helped settle us down,” Flintridge Prep coach Esteban Chavez said. “We were than able to win a lot of the battles and go from there.

“We had to fight through a lot against Santa Barbara and we felt good with the way we played against Quartz Hill, which is an outstanding team and is well organized. It was definitely a hard game.”

Nevadomsky scored later in the first half to give the Rebels a 2-0 lead.

Flintridge Prep received one goal each in the second half from Brown and Dominguez to dispatch Quartz Hill (15-3-1).

Brown, who assisted on the winning goal by Chayse Lim-Ying versus Santa Barbara, made it 3-0.

Dominguez closed out the scoring with her 105th career goal.

Flintridge Prep goalkeeper Ana Bozzi McKay finished with seven saves. McKay missed the Santa Barbara contest because of illness.

“It was big to have her back and she made some good saves,” Chavez said.

Quartz Hill, which began the postseason with a 7-0 win against visiting Windward, won the Golden League championship.
