Sports Roundup: Leroy ignites Flintridge Sacred Heart soccer to first-round playoff win

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 5, Dos Pueblos 3: Maddie Leroy finished with three goals and one assist Wednesday to propel visiting Flintridge Sacred Heart to a CIF Southern Section Division III first-round win at San Marcos High.

The Tologs (9-4-3) got one goal each from Jillian Willis and Lauren Bolte.

Flintridge Sacred Heart, which took second in the Mission League, held a 3-2 halftime before Dos Pueblos (12-6-6 and the Channel League champion) knotted it at 3.

Leroy scored the winning goal before Willis added an insurance goal.

Flintridge Sacred Heart will play host to Serrano (16-1-2), which notched a 1-0 overtime victory against Crescenta Valley at home Wednesday, on Friday at a time and location to be determined.

Serrano 1, Crescenta Valley 0 (overtime): Crescenta Valley saw its season conclude Wednesday in a CIF Southern Section Division III first-round match.

Crescenta Valley, which finished second in the Pacific League despite having no seniors, yielded the winning goal with about three minutes left in overtime.

The Falcons finished 14-5-4.

Serrano (16-1-2) will take on host Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in a second-round match Friday at a time and site to be determined.

Mary Star of the Sea 2, St. Monica Academy 1: Caterina Marji scored the lone goal for St. Monica, which had its campaign ended in a CIF Southern Section Division VII first-round road match at El Camino College in Torrance.

Genevieve Pulido and Rebecca Lizarde played well for the Crusaders (9-9), who took third in the Heritage League.

Mary Star of the Sea improved to 11-5-1 and won the Santa Fe League championship.

Flintridge Prep 10, Heritage 3: Natalie Kaplanyan tallied eight goals Wednesday to lift visiting Flintridge Prep to a CIF Southern Section Division VII first-round win at DropZone Waterpark in Perris.

Kaplanyan has 18 goals in two playoff contests.

Flintridge Prep (17-8) got one goal each from Paige Nixon and Isabel Simons to turn back Heritage (8-8).

Flintridge Prep, which finished third in the Prep League, will host to Fontana (20-6) in a quarterfinal match at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pasadena Poly. Fontana tied for second in the Sunbelt League.
