Vaqs stay unbeaten in conference


Glendale Community College 5, L.A. Pierce College 4: Alex Sarkissian and Trevor Campbell teamed up for an 8-4 win to give the host Vaqueros a Western State Conference victory Thursday. Glendale (6-4, 3-0 in conference) got singles wins from Sarkissian, Campbell, Grayson Frazier and Andre Ratavousian.


Santa Monica City College 7, Glendale Community College 2: The Vaqueros received an 8-1 doubles win from Sevana Zargarian and Samantha Sismundo on Thursday in a Western State Conference road match. Glendale dropped to 1-4, 0-3 in conference.


Glendale 12, Burbank 6: Freshman No. 2 singles Nick Shamma swept, 6-1, 6-2, 6-1, to lead the Nitros to a Pacific League win at home on Thursday.

Glendale (3-0, 2-0 in league) also got two sweeps in doubles from Jeff Asano and Elliot Kim (6-2, 6-2, 7-5) and Alex Levin and Edgar Hakobyan (6-3, 6-3, 7-5).

St. Francis 13, Oakwood 5: The Golden Knights (2-0) got a doubles sweep from Antonelo Gonzalez and Alex Kavakian and two doubles wins from Gregory Pak and Daniel Gong in a nonleague win at Fremont Tennis Center on Thursday.

John Kazanjian won a pair of sets in singles for St. Francis.

Milken Community 11, Flintridge Prep 7: The Rebels' No. 1 doubles team of Eric Kazangian and Kent Byun swept, while No. 1 singles Alex Wood won two sets in a nonleague road match on Thursday. Prep is now 1-1 on the year.
