Falcons take Duarte

SOFTBALL

Crescenta Valley 8, Temple City 1: Hannah Cookson hit two home runs to lead the Falcons (4-0) to a win in the championship game of the Duarte Tournament on Saturday.

Cece Martinez, Sydney House, Delaney Gay and Jessica Morena each recorded multi-hit games.

Long Beach Poly 8, Hoover 4: Briana Manzanero, Kaitlyn Williams and Kenya Buckley each went two for three for the Tornadoes in a Cypress Tournament loss on Saturday.

Hoover also lost to Fullerton, 9-1, in the same tournament on Saturday.

BASEBALL

Crescenta Valley 11, Glendora 3: Senior Kyle Pomeroy pitched five innings in his first start on the mound since his freshman year and struck out 10 while allowing just two hits in the third-place game of the Glendora Tournament on Saturday.

Troy Prasertsit went three for four with four runs batted in and Kyle Murray recorded three hits for Crescenta Valley (3-1).

Duarte 8, Flintridge Prep 7: Kyle McDonald went three for three with a double and two RBIs and Royce Park was two for four with two RBIs for the Rebels (3-1) in the championship game of the Duarte Tournament on Saturday.

The Rebels stranded six runners in scoring position.

Ventura 6, St. Francis 5: Pete Hoffman singled in a run with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning to bring the Golden Knights within one run, but another St. Francis base runner was thrown out at the plate trying to score on the same play for the final out of an Easton Tournament game on Saturday.

JP Nolan went three for four and David Hubinger was one for three with two RBIs for the Golden Knights, who fell to 3-2 on the season.
