Rebels get some payback

BASEBALL

Flintridge Prep 6, Webb 1: Alex Sierra pitched five innings and allowed just one unearned run on three hits to lead the Rebels to their first Prep League win on the road Thursday.

Royce Park and Scott Tsangeos each drove in two runs and Brendan McKiernan went two for three and scored twice for Prep (4-3, 1-2 in league), which lost to Webb on Tuesday.

BOYS’ GOLF

St. Francis 199, Alemany 202: Michael Doll carded a two-over-par 38 and Richie Maloof finished with a 39 to lead the Golden Knights (2-5 in league) to a Mission League road win at Woodley Lakes Golf Course on Thursday.

On Wednesday, St. Francis (2-5 in league) notched a home league win over Alemany, 214-219, at Brookside Park No. 1 Golf Course.

BOYS’ TENNIS

St. Francis 13, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 5: John Kazanjian, Christopher Grosuevor, and Alex Kavakian all swept in singles to lead the Golden Knights to a Mission League road win.

Burroughs 11, Hoover 5: The doubles teams of Ron Glandian and Sage Berry and Ejmin Mehranian and Alex Karibyan each won two sets for the Tornadoes in a rain-shortened Pacific League road match on Thursday.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Viewpoint 3, Glendale Adventist Academy 0: The Cougars fell to 0-2 on the season and in the Westside League with a 25-9, 25-8, 25-15 road loss Thursday.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Glendale Community College 7, L.A. Mission College 2: Sako Chapjian hit a three-run home run in the first inning and Michael Noteware pitched 41/3 strong innings of relief to get the win after relieving injured starter Thomas Korn. GCC improved to 14-8 and 5-4 in the Western State Conference.
