Rebels earn league road win


Flintridge Prep 7, Rio Hondo Prep 4: Flintridge Prep pitcher Denise van der Goot struck out 16, including the first nine batters of the game, to lead the Rebels in a Prep League road contest Friday.

Ashley Kim hit a home run and drove in three runs for the Rebels, who got three hits from Alina Okamoto. Flintridge Prep improved to 5-2, 3-0 in league.


Flintridge Prep in Prep League quad meet: The Rebels received nine first-place efforts to win Friday's Prep League meet at La Cañada High.

Flintridge Prep, which finished first with 83 points, received a pair of first-place efforts from Kate Evans and Samantha Davies. Evans won the 1,600-meter race in 5 minutes 35.9 seconds and the 3,200 (12:34.8). Davies took the 100 in 13.38 seconds and the 200 (28.68).

Also securing first-place performances for Flintridge Prep were Brooke Elby in the 300 hurdles (49.06), Cassie Redding in the 100 hurdles (18.39), Kate Kennedy in the 400 (62.54), Elise Young in the long jump at 14 feet 10 inches and Arielle Baptiste in the triple jump (32-2 1/2).

Mayfield took second with 55 points, followed by Chadwick (47) and Pasadena Poly (37).


Flintridge Prep in Prep League tri-meet: Jesse Redding won the 1,600-meter race to lead the Rebels to a second-place finish Friday in a Prep League meet at La Cañada High. Redding clocked 4 minutes 53 seconds.

Sam Cook took second in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 40 feet 9 1/2 inches.

Pasadena Poly won the meet with 63 points, followed by Flintridge Prep (53) and Chadwick (37).
