Hoover 11, Santa Monica 7: Hakop Kaplanyan scored three goals for the Tornadoes in a nonleague road win on Thursday.

David Pogosian scored three goals, Hakop Baghumian had a goal and three assists and Sevada Khodaverdi saved nine shots for Hoover (4-3).

Flintridge Prep 10, Villanova 6: Alex Blaine scored five goals in two games for the Rebels Thursday, as Prep opened the Malibu Tournament against Malibu and closed the day out with a match against Villanova. Flintridge Prep fell to Malibu in a close one, 6-5. Blaine had a match-high three goals in the contest before adding two more in a four-goal win over Villanova. Carlo Sivilotti had three goals against Villanova, while Ethan Vandeventer added two more in the game for the Rebels, whose record now sits at 7-3.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Rio Hondo Prep 3, Flintridge Prep 1: The host Rebels fell, 29-27, 25-17, 18-25, 25-19, on Thursday in Prep League match. Julia Miller led Flintridge Prep (3-4, 1-1 in league) with 11 kills and teammate Kate Woolley added nine.
