Golden Knights sweep up Crusaders

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

St. Francis 3, Village Christian 0: Michael Bacall finished with 13 kills Thursday to lead the visiting Golden Knights (3-0) to a 25-18, 25-13, 25-20 nonleague win. Chris Thompson contributed 25 assists for St. Francis.

BOYS’ TRACK AND FIELD

Glendale 103, Muir 33: Tristan Pacba won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.7 seconds and the 300 hurdles (45.0) to lead the Nitros in a Pacific League dual meet Thursday. Glendale also received first-place efforts from Brian Shieh in the 3,200 in 10:42, Josh Carlos in the 800 (2:04.5), Young Kim in the shot put in 35 feet 11 inches and Michael Davis in the 100 (10.7). Glendale’s 4x400 relay team of Jeff Massin, Carlos Navaro, Josh Carlos and Chris Canlas won in 3:38.9.

GIRLS’ TRACK AND FIELD

Glendale 110, Muir 18: Sophia Amodia and Natalie Queally each won a pair of individual races Thursday for the Nitros in a Pacific League dual meet. Amodia won the 100-meter hurdles in 17.9 seconds and the 300 hurdles (49.1). Queally took first in the long jump in 14 feet 10 inches and the triple jump (31-8).

Also getting first-place performances for the Nitros were Leana Satian in the 1,600 (5:40.8), Lauren Hansen in the 800 (2:35.7), Cecile LeDuff in the 400 (67.5), Gabriella Kovarik in the high jump (4-4) and Marquita Lopez-Engleman in the shot put (23 feet).

Glendale’s 4x400 relay team of Satian, Hansen, Amodia and Kenya Gaskin finished first in 4:23.8.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Arcadia 13, Hoover 5: The host Tornadoes got a doubles sweep from Vardan Adzinhyan and Yeprem Chavdarian (6-2, 6-3, 6-4) in a Pacific League match Thursday. Hoover dropped to 3-2, 2-2 in league.

Temple City 15, Glendale 3: The Nitros (3-1) received 7-5 doubles wins from Alex Yoon and Daniel Shafrazian and Rene Glandian and Sam Sarian in a nonleague match Thursday.

Burroughs 16, Crescenta Valley 2: The visiting Falcons suffered a Pacific League defeat Thursday and fell to 0-4, 0-3 in league.

BOYS’ GOLF

St. Francis 202, Crescenta Valley 206: Vince De Pinto and Michael Finney each shot three-over-par 38s Thursday for the Golden Knights in a nonleague match at Brookside Golf Course No. 2. St. Francis improved to 3-1. Jason Stumbaugh shot a 40.

Flintridge Prep 226, Azusa 281: Jack Bouchard fired a five-over-par 40 on Thursday for the Rebels in a nonleague match at Altadena Golf Course. Josh Kim, Richard Low and Justin Chang shot 46s.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Glendale Community College 4, College of the Canyons 3: Ruben Padilla went three for four with a run scored and Julian Jarrard was two for three with two doubles and a run batted in in the Vaqueros’ Western State Conference South Division road win Thursday. Glendale improved to 13-4, 3-0 in the division.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Santa Barbara City College 6, Glendale Community College 3: The host Vaqueros received a 6-2, 7-6 (6-2) singles win from Sevana Zargarian on Thursday in a Western State Conference match. Glendale (3-4, 2-2 in conference) also got a 6-0, 6-3 win from Sofia Tavitian and a 6-4, 6-2 win from Samantha Sismundo.

MEN’S TENNIS

Santa Barbara City College 9, Glendale Community College 0: The visiting Vaqueros fell Thursday in a Western State Conference match. Glendale dropped to 2-6, 1-3 in conference.
