BOYS’ TENNIS

Crescenta Valley 14, Flintridge Prep 4: The host Falcons (2-5) got a sweep from their top doubles team of Tim Chong and Patrick Meserkhani (6-0, 6-1, 6-0) in a nonleague match Monday. Crescenta Valley also received a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 singles victory from Albert Chtchyan.

Albert Lee of Flintridge Prep won two singles sets (6-2, 6-1).

MEN’S GOLF

Vaqueros take second in North-South Tournament: Glendale college shot a two-round score of 749 in the eight-team tournament Monday at Hunter Ranch Country Club in Paso Robles.

After opening the tournament Sunday with a one-under-par 71, Mathias Dahl carded a 76 on Monday for a two-round total of 147. Michael Timpson shot a 70 on Monday to earn medalist honors and finish at 149. Nick Quintanilla carded a 76 on Monday and finished at 150. Richie Maloof had a second-round tally of 77 and finished at 153. Clayton Ojeda carded a 73 and a two-round score of 155 for the Vaqueros, who got an 82 from Ryan Chotivichitr for a total of 159.

Chabot, which captured the state tournament last season, won with a 743.

COLLEGE TRACK AND FIELD

Vaqueros compete in Occidental College Distance Carnival: The Glendale Community College men’s and women’s teams took part in the event Friday and turned in some impressive marks.

In the women’s competition, Glendale’s Lilia Asserian won her heat in the 800-meter race in 2 minutes 16.84 seconds. In the men’s portion of the event, Glendale’s Issac Diosdado captured his heat in the 3,000 steeplechase (9:50.94).

Other top efforts for the Vaqueros’ women’s team included Cecilia Nicolas finishing second in her heat of the 1,500 meters (4:53.28). On the men’s side, Mizrael Mendez of Glendale was fifth overall in the 10,000 meters (31:27.25), Nicholas Marquez was fifth in his heat of the steeplechase (10:06.79), Rico Gutierrez was seventh in his heat of the 1,500 (4:06.80) and Mario Castillo was eighth in his heat of the 800 (1:55.32).

SOFTBALL

Glendale Community College 3, Bakersfield College 2: Nancy Pinedo registered two hits and Jennifer Nguyen had a two-run triple Thursday to spark the host Vaqueros in a Western State Conference Blue Division game at the Glendale Sports Complex. Pitcher Brandy Morin (10-6) went the distance for Glendale, which improved to 14-7 overall and 1-1 in the division.
