Korn’s no-hit bid pops in eighth for Angelenos

It was a banner evening for Glendale Angelenos pitcher Thomas Korn, who flirted with perfection in Wednesday evening’s California Collegiate Summer League baseball game.

Korn, a former Pasadena High standout, tossed 7 2/3 innings of no-hit ball before surrendering consecutive hits in an Angelenos 4-0 victory over the SoCal Halos at Stengel Field.

The incoming York College of Nebraska senior struck out 10 batters before being taken out and replaced by relievers Julian Jarrard and Michael Noteware.

The duo didn’t allow a hit over the final 1 1/3 inning as Glendale improved to 26-7 this season.

Glendale tallied all the offense it needed in the first inning with three runs when Sako Chapjian, Matt Telesco and Erik Suarez – who all singled – scored.

Overall, Hector Gomez, Suarez and Danny Casey each drove in a run, while Telesco finished two for four.
