Former Crescenta Valley High quarterback Sae Woon Jo was recently named the Atlanta Falcons’ scouting coordinator for the player personnel department.

Jo, a UC San Diego graduate who spent the past nine years at Occidental College working as the school’s facilities coordinator, director of recreational and intramural sports and the director of football, recently completed a two-week internship with the Falcons. He will be in charge of the team’s college scouts and providing support for the scouting staff at the team’s training facility and road contests. He will also work with the team’s director of player personnel and director of professional scouting on various projects.

“Occidental was my first job out of college in 2003 and it will always be a special place to me,” Jo said in a statement released by Occidental on Aug. 21. “This is a tremendous opportunity for me and my career. I’m really looking forward to working for one of the premier professional sports organizations.”

At Occidental, Jo worked performed various duties pertaining to football operations, including breaking down game films. Occidental won four Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships between 2004-08.

“Sae Woon rejuvenated club sports and intramurals and reached over 800 participants through his role. He also mastered the difficult role of generating revenue through rentals while rarely displacing students,” Occidental Athletic Director Jaime Hoffman said. “We’re grateful for the contributions he’s made to Oxy athletics and we’re very excited to follow him as he pursues this exciting new opportunity in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons.”
