High School Sports Roundup: Crescenta Valley water polo edges Rio Mesa


Crescenta Valley 12, Rio Mesa 10: Griffin Harting and Nate Fernandez had three goals apiece Thursday to power the visiting Falcons (3-3) in a nonleague match. Crescenta Valley also received a pair of goals from Antonio Camarillo and one apiece from Alexander Trimis, Brian Dertli, Daniel Park and Omar Trad. Goalkeeper Robert Menke recorded 13 saves for the Falcons.

Flintridge Prep 8, Carpinteria 5: Ethan Vandeventer finished with three goals, four steals and two assists for the Rebels (5-4) in a pool-play match of the Malibu Tournament at Malibu High. Flintridge Prep then suffered an 11-5 pool-play defeat against Malibu. Vandeventer collected three goals.


Rio Hondo Prep 3, Flintridge Prep 0: Each game was close Thursday at Rio Hondo Prep, but the Kares still pulled out the sweep, 29-27, 25-22, 25-23. Lauren Stiles finished with a team-high 15 kills for Prep, which received 30 assists and 21 digs from Katherine Bogaard and Bryn McFadden, respectively. Daniella Motte also finished with 13 kills for the Rebels, who dropped to 0-3 in the Prep League and 3-5 overall.

Burroughs 3, Crescenta Valley 0: The visiting Falcons were swept, 25-21, 25-23, 25-21, on Thursday in a Pacific league match. Crescenta Valley dropped to 1-4, 0-3 in league.
