Crescenta Valley girls’ soccer stays unblemished in league

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Crescenta Valley 4, Burbank 0: The Falcons have yet to lose a match or allow a goal in Pacific League play after Wednesday’s win at Burbank High.

Lisa Kang had two of her team’s three first-half goals, with Rachel Bird, who added an assist, scoring the other. Sierra Rhoads had a goal, as well, for a Falcons team that is now 6-2-1 and won its sixth straight game with its fifth straight shutout.

Hoover 3, Muir 0: The Tornadoes notched their first win of the season on Wednesday, as Ashley Flores, Jordan Miller and Tyra Williams had goals in the Pacific League outing.

Melanie Ascencio also played well for Hoover (1-3, 1-2 in league).

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 3, Louisville 1: Casey Basso had a goal and an assist in Wednesday’s Mission League win at Crespi High.

The Tologs (10-0-2, 2-0 in league) also got a goal from Sarah Vail and an own goal, with Krista Meaglia and Hannah Armendariz tallying assists.

Arcadia 2, Glendale 0: The Nitros fell to 2-7 and 0-3 in the Pacific League with Wednesday’s loss.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Hoover 4, Muir 2: Artin Almary and Argin Hagboubian each scored a goal Wednesday for the visiting Tornadoes as they won their first Pacific League match. Hoover improved to 2-4-1, 1-2 in league.

Crescenta Valley 4, Burbank 1: Justin Wright, Eric Keshishian, Erick Trejo and Pablo Hernandez each scored Wednesday to lead the host Falcons in a Pacific League match. Crescenta Valley improved to 12-1-4, 2-0-1 in league.

Glendale 2, Arcadia 1: The Nitros (6-5-1, 1-2 in league) earned their first Pacific League win of the season on Wednesday with goals from Albert Chamagua and Ber Ghazarian.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Glendale 42, Arcadia 38: Erlin Keshishzaden finished with 10 points and nine rebounds Wednesday to propel the visiting Nitros in a Pacific League contest. Glendale (8-6, 1-2 in league) got 10 points and five assists from Kris Zadourian and 10 points apiece from Tara Abdul-Ahad and Kristina Sahakian.

Burbank 58, Crescenta Valley 30: The Falcons fell to 7-9 and 2-1 in the Pacific League with Wednesday’s loss.

Muir 61, Hoover 22: The Tornadoes fell to 2-10, 0-3 in the Pacific League in a loss at Muir Wednesday.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Crescenta Valley 60, Burbank 54: In Wednesday’s Pacific League matchup, Crescenta Valley (12-4, 3-0 in league) rallied from a 30-18 deficit at the half and a 49-40 deficit at the end of the third quarter.

Nick Springer keyed the comeback, scoring 22 of his 28 points in the second half.

Springer also pulled down 10 rebounds, while Cole Currie added 21 points, five rebounds and five assists.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Burbank 16, Hoover 2: The Tornadoes lost their Pacific League opener on Tuesday.

Mayfield 19, Flintridge Prep 3: The Rebels got goals from Arin Phillips, Erin Dennis and Chelsea Rappaport in a Prep League loss played at Maranatha High Wednesday. Flintridge Prep fell to 1-11.
