SPORTS ROUNDUP: Glendale Community College baseball falls to rival in conference game

MEN’S BASEBALL

College of the Canyons 11, Glendale Community College 5: The Vaqueros pitchers couldn’t slow down the host Cougars, who scored in all but two innings on Tuesday in a Western state Conference Southern Division contest.

GCC, which has slipped to 17-9, 12-3 in Western State Conference South Division and lost four straight, received three-hit efforts from Austin Walker (three for four, two runs batted in) and Mike McCallister (three for five, two runs) in the game. Justin Jones also went two for three with a RBI for the Vaqueros, who also had hits from Oscar Tinjaca, Chris Whitmer and Edgar Montes.

Tyler Delzell was the only Glendale pitcher who had much success in the game, as he threw two innings of one-hit, one-walk scoreless relief.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Glendale Community College 7, Santa Barbara City College 2: Visiting Glendale won four singles sets Tuesday in a Western State Conference match. Glendale (9-7, 4-4 in conference) got wins from Sofia Tavitian (6-0, 6-1), Allie Amor (6-0, 6-0), Ashley Sumudio (6-2, 6-0) and Amanda Dring (6-2, 6-3).

Glendale swept the three doubles sets, getting wins from Tavitian and Amor (8-0), Sumudio and Fnu Nerrissa (8-0) and Sydney Farzadkish and Dring (9-8(7-4).

BOYS’ GOLF

Crescenta Valley 209, Pasadena 250: Paul Park shot a two-over-par 38 on Tuesday for the visiting Falcons in a nonleague match at Altadena Golf Course.
