All-Area Girls’ Soccer First Team

Casey Cousineau, Senior, Goalkeeper, Flintridge Prep

Dartmouth-bound keeper finished with 43 saves, registered 13 shutouts and was named to All-Prep League second team.

Kaelin King, Senior, Forward, Flintridge Prep

Senior forward finished with 20 goals and seven assists for 47 points. Was named Prep League’s Offensive Most Valuable Player and was an All-CIF Division III third-team pick.

Kara Lankey, Senior, Defender, La Cañada

The senior defender was named the All-Rio Hondo League Player of the Year and is headed to Pacific University. Also had seven goals and seven assists.

Sarah Mendenhall, Senior, Forward, Pasadena Poly

Princeton-bound striker finished with 18 goals and 14 assists in only 16 games in being named a Division III and Prep League first-team pick.

Kayla Mills, Senior, Defender, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy

Going to USC and kept the Flintridge Sacred Heart defense together en route to being named Mission League Most Valuable Player. Also had four goals and two assists. All-CIF Division I first-team pick.

Sierra Rhoads, Senior, Forward/Defender, Crescenta Valley

First-team All-Pacific League selection. Tallied 19 goals and seven assists and was also one of team’s best defenders when she was shifted back there. All-CIF Division III first-team pick.

Alex Schuster, Senior, Defender, San Marino

Division V first-teamer and Rio Hondo League Defensive MVP, also had eight goals and nine assists and is heading to St. Mary’s in the fall.

Sarah Teegarden, Senior, Midfielder, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy

Mission League Defensive MVP had four goals and two assists. All-CIF Division I second-team pick.

Savannah Viola, Senior, Forward, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy

All-Mission League first team. Had eight goals and 12 assists. All-CIF Division I third-team member.

Katie Wardlaw, Senior, Midfielder, Pasadena Poly

Finished with 19 goals and 10 assists and was a Division III first-teamer and Prep League first-team pick. Turned down a few Division I scholarships to attend country’s top liberal arts college — Williams College.

Hope Welder, Senior, Forward, San Marino

Division V first-teamer and Rio Hondo League Offensive MVP scored 20 goals and added six assists.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Pat Gray, Pasadena Poly

Led Panthers to their first Prep League title and first appearance in the CIF Southern Section Division III championship match since 2003. Panthers also finished 23-2-1 on the season and captured the CIF State Southern California Regional Division III championship.
