SPORTS ROUNDUP: Grace Zamudio wins Western State Conference title in the 10,000

WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD

Vaqueros in Western State Conference prelims: Grace Zamudio captured a conference championship in the 10,000-meter race on Friday, clocking 39 minutes 32.04 seconds.

A handful of Glendale athletes advanced to the conference finals, which will be held Friday at Moorpark College. Elizabeth Nelson, Zamudio and Zulma Herrera in the 1,500, Nafasi Mataei in the 100, Lilia Asserian in the 800, Jasmine Sales in the 400 hurdles and Ana Tonga in the shot put moved on.

MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD

Vaqueros in Western State Conference prelims: Issac Diosdado and Nick La Croix each won conference championships in their respective events Friday. Diosdado finished first in the 10,000-meter race in 32 minutes 29.26 seconds. La Croix captured the shot put in 13.52 meters.

Also moving on to the conference finals, which will take place Friday at Moorpark College, are Ashton Malone, Mario Castillo and Edwardo Vasquez in the 1,500, Daniel Munoz in the 400, Jourdan Henore in the 100, Castillo, Ashton Malone, Edwardo Vasquez and Alejandro Chavez in the 800, James Jones in the 400 hurdles, and Henore, Nathan Weston and Munoz in the 200.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Claremont 3, Crescenta Valley 0: The host Falcons suffered a 25-16, 25-15, 25-9 Pacific League defeat Friday. Raymond Barsemain led the Falcons with five kills.
