Glendale wins first-round CIF lacrosse match

Glendale 7, Beverly Hills 5: The host Nitros (6-9) picked up a CIF Southern Section North Division first-round playoff victory Monday.

Lymayre Aguilar finished with a team-high three goals for Glendale, which will meet Chaminade in a second-round road match at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Nitros received a pair of goals from Ahuiexel Lopez-Engleman and one apiece from Ariella Ruiz and Claire Bernardo.

Glendale, which went 3-4 for third place in the Prep League, got five saves from goalkeeper Jenina Villabroza.

BOYS’ TENNIS

St. Francis in Mission League prelims: A pair of singles and doubles players participated in the event Monday at L.A. Valley College.

In singles, Kristian Esteve and Alex Kevakian picked up first-round wins. Esteve, won, 6-0, 6-2. Kevakian earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory.

Esteve suffered a 6-0, 6-1 second-round loss. Kevakian fell, 6-0, 6-1, in the second round.

In doubles, Mostafa El-Harazi and Greg Alle opened with a 6-4, 6-2 win before suffering a 6-0, 6-1 second-round defeat. Darren Kunitake and Alfred Lee lost, 6-0, 6-1, in the first round.
