Two local softball teams will participate in the CIF Southern Section playoffs after the CIF office unveiled its playoff pairings Monday.

Crescenta Valley High and Holy Family will have little time to prepare for their postseason contests, as both the Falcons and Gaels will take part in wild-card games Tuesday.

Crescenta Valley (14-10-1) will make the short trip to Pasadena to face La Salle (12-12-1) in a Division III contest at 3:15 p.m. Holy Family (6-14) will host Frazier Mountain (14-7) in a Division VI game at Rio de Los Angeles Park.

Under coach Mark Samford, Crescenta Valley finished in a three-way tie for second place in the Pacific League, but will enter the postseason as the league’s No. 3 representative behind Burbank and Arcadia. La Salle took third in the Del Rey League.

The Crescenta Valley-La Salle winner will meet fourth-seeded Righetti in a first-round road game at 3:15 p.m. Thursday.

Holy Family finished third in the Horizon League under coach Greg Ziomek behind Alverno and San Gabriel Mission. Frazier Mountain (14-7) was fourth in the High Desert League and received an at-large playoff berth.

The Holy Family-Frazier Mountain winner will battle second-seeded Bellarmine-Jefferson in a first-round road game at 3:15 p.m. Thursday. Bell-Jeff reached the championship game in Division VII the last two seasons.
