Sports Roundup: Crescenta Valley High girls’ volleyball comes up short of upsetting rival Arcadia

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Arcadia 3, Crescenta Valley 2: The visiting Falcons closed out the regular season with a 25-16, 25-18, 23-25, 11-25, 15-12 Pacific League defeat Tuesday. Crescenta Valley, which will next participate in the playoffs, dipped to 10-8, 8-6 in league.

Emmie Walker finished with 14 kills for the Falcons, who got 13 kills and seven aces from Micaela Guarino, 38 assists from Marina Torres and 15 digs from Rosa Kwak.

“It was a great match, but we just couldn’t pull it out,” Crescenta Valley Coach Jen Ku Lee said. “It’s good for us to end the regular season with a match like this going into the playoffs.”

Glendale 3, Hoover 1: Glendale picked up a 25-11, 25-13, 23-25, 25-11 Pacific League win Tuesday. Glendale finished 11-9, 7-7 in league.

“We served well and it’s a good way to go out, especially against your rival,” Glendale Coach Jennifer Vo said.

Mayfield 3, Flintridge Prep 0: Host Flintridge Prep closed out its season Tuesday with a 25-8, 25-12, 25-18 Prep League loss. Dani Motte paced the Rebels (1-16, 0-12 in league) with nine kills and Lauren Stiles contributed 12 digs.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

College of the Canyons 1, Glendale Community College 0: The visiting Vaqueros surrendered a second-half goal in a Western State Conference South Division match Tuesday. Glendale dropped to 6-7-4, 3-6-1 in the division.

MEN’S SOCCER

Moorpark 5, Glendale Community College 2: Glendale fell Tuesday in a Western State Conference South Division road match. The Vaqueros are 2-16-1, 1-13 in the division.
