SPORTS ROUNDUP: St. Francis High baseball picks up tournament win

BASEBALL

St. Francis 10, Bell Gardens 5: The Golden Knights won their second in a row with Tuesday’s victory in the Arcadia Elks Tournament and improved to 2-1 in the process.

Andres Kim tossed six innings and had five strikeouts. He was also one of four Golden Knights to go two for four, joined by Kevin Baker, Drew Nixon and Mike Reilly. Baker had three runs batted in. Freshman Brandon Lewis was also two for three and is four for seven on the season.

Flintridge Prep 17, Firebaugh 3 (five innings): The host Rebels scored seven runs in the first inning and never looked back in picking up a nonleague victory on Tuesday afternoon in five innings.

Senior Michael Weinsten had a day to remember for the Tologs (2-1), as he finished two for four with a double, triple, four RBI and two runs scored. Daniel Enzminger was three for four with three RBI and two runs scored, while Cole Pilar tripled, scored three runs and had two RBI.

Cole Rademacker added three hits and three runs scored, while Robbie Leslie and Brendan McKiernan scored two runs apiece.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Glendale 12, Burbank 6: Glendale notched a Pacific League road win Tuesday. The Nitros (4-3, 2-2 in league) got a sweep in singles from Arin Meserkhani (6-3, 6-3, 6-1) and sweeps in doubles from Mike Akopians and Davit Ismailian (6-2, 6-1, 6-3), Mheir Krikorian and David Casaburi (6-4, 6-0, 6-2) and Matt Davidian and Artiom Ambartsoumian (6-2, 6-3, 5-2).

Hoover 14, La Salle 4: The visiting Tornadoes cruised to a nonleague win Monday. Hoover received a sweep in singles from Hrant Aghakanian (6-0, 6-0, 6-0) and a sweep in doubles from Danny Kim and Artur Arutunyan (6-1, 6-2, 6-1).

St. Francis 11, Flintridge Prep 7: The host Golden Knights (4-0) picked up a nonleague win Monday at Fremont Tennis Center.

SOFTBALL

Glendale 17, Golden Valley 7: The Nitros won their third straight game Tuesday, improving to 3-1 with the nonleague road victory.

Sammy Fabian had four hits, including a triple and a double, Alex Howard also had four hits with two doubles and Jordan Lousararian had four hits in addition to going the distances in the circle and striking out four.

Grace Sinisterra was three for three with two walks for a Glendale squad that was trailing, 6-4, after foru innings and scored 13 runs over the final three innings.

Sierra Canyon 4, Holy Family 1: The host Gaels played one their most competitive games of the season Tuesday and fell in nonleague play.

Tabitha Ruiz, who finished two for three with a triple and home, scored Jazmine Leon in the first inning with a two-bagger to account for the lone run for Holy Family (0-4).

Holy Family returns to Lincoln Tournament action Saturday with a double-header at Chatsworth High, as the Gaels face Taft at 8:30 a.m. and then San Bernardino at 10:45.

San Marino 9, Flintridge Prep 0: The Rebels were three-hit in a nonleague defeat Tuesday.

Chae Kim, Alex Tutwiler and Therese Oshiro all collected singles for the Rebels (3-3).

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 12, Flintridge Prep 1: Hannah Zika had a pair of doubles Monday to spark the visiting Tologs in a nonleague game. The Tologs (5-1) got three hits and two runs batted in from OIlivia Fitzpatrick.

Therese Oshiro collected a pair of hits for the Rebels (3-3). In the circle, Oshiro struck out seven.
