Thursday Club to offer ‘Fuel for Thought’

Area residents who would like to learn more about the hydrogen fuel cell cars are invited to a special program, “Fuel for Thought,” that will be offered by the La Cañada Thursday Club on Sunday, March 13, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Lisa Mirisola, program supervisor for South Coast Air Quality Management District, will serve as the guest speaker. For 15 years, Mirisola has been attached to the AQMD’s Technology Advancement Office, serving as a project officer for projects related to electric, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fuel cell vehicles and related vehicle regulatory analysis, infrastructure and incentive programs and outreach efforts.

In hopes of keeping ahead of a new trend, FirstElement Fuel installed La Cañada’s first hydrogen fueling station recently at the ARCO gas station on the corner of Foothill Boulevard and Woodleigh Lane, adjacent to the Thursday Club’s parking lot. This new development caught the interest of the club’s Community Relations Committee, who thought the public might like to know more about hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. The recent opening of the local fueling station came as Toyota rolls out its new Mirai, a hydrogen-based vehicle.

No reservations are required to attend the Thursday Club event, which will be held at its historic clubhouse, 4440 Woodleigh Lane.
